TULSA, OKLAHOMA - The 18th annual Tulsa Indian Art Festival will be held Feb. 20-22 in the Greenwood Cultural Center, located at 322 N. Greenwood, south of the Oklahoma State University Tulsa Campus.This showcase of art and tradition honoring the spirit of the American Indian has grown over the years both in quality and quantity. This year it continues to evolve as a juried art exhibit and sale, meaning only the top quality American Indian artists from across the United States are invited to display and sell their creations.
Guest artist for Friday night's juried art recognition, wine tasting and fashion show is the internationally known Choctaw artist Marcus Amerman. Accompanying Amerman in the fashion show is artist Wendy Ponca, featuring her "Mylar and body painting" designs. Festivities begin at 7 p.m. with artists will be in their booths to discuss and sell their artwork.
A silent auction is also scheduled with proceeds going to the TIAF Scholarship Program for qualified American Indian students who are interested in the arts. Reservations are required for Friday evening. For reservations or additional information, call (918) 838-3875.
On Friday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m., the festival will feature an art market, hands on activities, cultural demonstrations, educational exhibits, storytelling, a student art exhibit, Indian exhibition dancing and authentic American Indian food in addition to the artists being in their booths to exhibit and sell their artwork.
