TAHLEQUAH, OKLAHOMA - The Cherokee Nation Tribal Council appointed two new commissioners to the Cherokee Nation Gaming Commission. They are Shannon Fisher of Sallisaw, Oklahoma and Jerry Gunter of Dallas, Texas."The new members have a strong business background and knowledge of the Cherokee Nation and look forward to serving their terms with the Gaming Commission," said Robin Stand, Cherokee Nation Gaming Commission compliance manager. "The current board and staff members are glad to have them and hope to increase regulatory oversight as Cherokee Nation Enterprises continues to grow."
The two new Commissioners join current Chairman W.H. Langley, Jr. and Commissioners Jim McGee of Stilwell, Oklahoma and Janelle Fullbright of Sallisaw, Oklahoma.
The Cherokee Nation Gaming Commission was established as the independent regulatory body charged with overseeing the conduct of gaming by authorized Tribal entities. It is responsible for ensuring compliance with the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act of 1988 (25 U.S.C.), and the regulations of the National Indian Gaming Commission.
