TAHLEQUAH, OKLAHOMA - The Cherokee National Holiday morning worship will be held at 10 a.m. on Sunday, September 5, at the Sequoyah High School Chapel, located on the grounds of Sequoyah High School, four miles south of Tahlequah, Okla., on Highway 62.

Kelly Whitekiller, from Tahlequah, will speak at the services and Saved by Grace Ministries will provide music.

“We would like to extend an invitation to everyone to come and enjoy a traditional morning worship service with us,” said Janie Carey, event coordinator for the Cherokee National Holiday. “Following the worship service a free lunch will be provided at the Sequoyah High School cafeteria.”

This year’s Cherokee National Holiday begins Friday, September 3, and runs through Monday, September 5. The Cherokee National Holiday has been held since 1953 in commemoration of the signing of the 1839 Cherokee Constitution. It has grown into one of the largest events in Oklahoma, attracting more than 90,000 people from across the world. This year’s theme, “The Spirit of the Trail,” celebrates the enduring spirit of the Cherokee people, past, present and future.
