TAHLEQUAH, OKLAHOMA - The award-winning Sequoyah High School (SHS) cheerleading squad will offer a cheerleading clinic October 20, 21, and 23 for children in kindergarten through sixth grade. The clinic will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Sequoyah High School gymnasium."Students will learn a cheer, sideline chant, and a dance", said Bonnie Griffin, SHS cheer coach. After completing the clinic, students will perform the cheer, sideline chant and dance at half-time of the Sequoyah High School football game on Friday, October 24. Cost for participating is $25.00 and each child will receive a t-shirt to wear during the performance.
The Sequoyah High School cheerleaders have received superior ribbons from the National Cheerleading Association (NCA) and four members of the squad were nominated for the NCA All-American Cheerleader award.

"Home of the Indians!" Sequoyah High School is an Indian boarding school which originated in 1871 when the Cherokee National Council passed an act setting up an orphan asylum to take care of the many orphans that came out of the Civil War. Sequoyah High School's approximate 300 enrollment represents 42 tribes and 14 different states. Students are eligible to attend if they are members of federally recognized Indian tribes or one-fourth blood descendants of such members.
