TAHLEQUAH, OKLAHOMA - The Cherokee Nation is sponsoring a goat vegetation management workshop October 10 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Tsa La Gi Community Room at the Cherokee Nation Complex in Tahlequah.This meeting will begin with free coffee and donuts followed by a presentation on using goats for vegetation management, the effects of goats on vegetation, and using global positioning system collars to monitor goat behavior. Attendees will also receive a tour of the Cherokee Nation goat management site followed by a free lunch.
The workshop is sponsored by the Cherokee Nation Natural Resources Department and Langston University. The two entities have been studying the use of goats to control weeds for over two years.
