TAHLEQUAH, OKLAHOMA - The Cherokee Nation recently held the annual Little Miss and Mister Cherokee contest for ages 8-12 as part of the 51st Cherokee National Holiday.The contest was held for girls and boys in age groups 8-9 and 10-12.
"All the children were wonderful and they were full of smiles", said Regina Christie-Bell, master of ceremonies. "It was so much fun."
The winner of Little Miss Cherokee for 8 and 9 year olds is Trista Hair, 9, of Tahlequah, first runner up is Saharra Henson, 9, of Tahlequah and the second runner up is Shauntell Mathis, 9, of Hulbert. The winner of Little Mister Cherokee for the 8 and 9 year olds is Steven Anderson, 8, of Tahlequah, the first runner up is Kaleb Kingfisher, 9, of Moody and the second runner up is Dakota Vann, 8, of Oaks. The winner of Little Miss Cherokee for the 10-12 year olds is Tara Rabon, 10, of Stillwell, first runner up is Rozlyn Locust, 10, of Stillwell and the second runner up is Hollie Smith, 11, of Park Hill. The winner of Little Mister Cherokee for the 10-12 year olds is Johnny Christie, 10, of Sallisaw.
