TAHLEQUAH, OKLAHOMA - Cherokee Nation Enterprises (CNE) is requesting proposals for artwork for the Cherokee Hills Casino and Resort from enrolled citizens of the Cherokee Nation and members of other federally recognized Cherokee bands.CNE’s vision is to showcase Cherokee artists as well as provide customers with an authentic visual depiction of the rich history and culture of the Cherokee people.
"This is a great opportunity to for local artists to be able to participate in the Cherokee Nation’s expansion into the Tulsa area", said Chad Smith, Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation.
Proposals will be accepted for all mediums in contemporary or traditional form, prints or originals. All submissions must authentically portray Cherokee history, events, motifs, designs, colors and dress, and may represent any era of Cherokee history to include the present.
CNE will retain the right to reproduce all selected artwork if the artwork is not available in reproduced format, such as lithographs, limited edition prints and artists’ proofs. Selection for standard rooms will be limited to four pieces of artwork and will be determined by CNE’s Cultural Committee.
Proposals for original commissioned artwork are also being accepted for the Chief’s Suite and Honeymoon Suite. CNE will retain all copyrights for commissioned pieces. 11
Artwork submissions are due by 5 p.m., Dec. 1 and must include artwork, number of prints available, if applicable, artist contact information and copy of CDIB and tribal membership card. Sizes of artwork range from 20 X 32 inches to 60 X 60 inches.
Submissions may be delivered to the CNE corporate office four miles west of Tahlequah on Highway 51, or for overnight delivery to 18915 N. 466 Road, Tahlequah, OK 74465, or mailed to P.O. Box 179, Tahlequah, OK 74465.
