TAHLEQUAH, OKLAHOMA - The Sequoyah High School (SHS) boys’ basketball team recently received an invitation to play in the 2003 Tournament of Champions.

The Tournament of Champions is held every year in Tulsa and is sponsored by the Tulsa World and Tulsa Public Schools. Area teams compete in the tournament by invitation only, and are chosen according to their ranking and by scouts who watch the teams play throughout the year.

"We feel pretty good about it", said Larry Grigg, SHS head coach. "You have to be pretty good to get invited. We have a chance to be competitive. It’s a big time atmosphere and it will really get the kids ready for the state tournament."

The SHS boy’s basketball team has earned a trip to the Oklahoma state high school tournament the last two years, bringing home the championship title this past year in the class 3A division.

The 2003 Tournament of Champions will be held December 29-31 at the Oral Roberts University Mabee Center in Tulsa.
