TAHLEQUAH, OKLAHOMA - Wal-Mart is taking a lead in promoting the 51st Cherokee National Holiday Mark Robertson, manager of the Tahlequah Wal-Mart, presented Cherokee Nation Principal Chief Chad Smith with a $5,000 check to help sponsor the 51st Cherokee National Holiday.

"Thank you", said Principal Chief Chad Smith. "We appreciate Wal-Mart supporting the biggest annual event in the Cherokee Nation."
"It’s a pleasure doing it", Robertson said. "We appreciate the Cherokee National Holiday. It’s good for Wal-Mart and it’s good for Tahlequah."
"This is the third year that Wal-Mart has been a sponsor of the Cherokee Nation Holiday", said Lou Slagle, director of the Cherokee National Holiday. "They have been a good supporter of Cherokee Nation and the Cherokee National Holiday.
The Cherokee National Holiday is held in Tahlequah over Labor Day weekend every year and marks the anniversary of the signing of the Cherokee Nation Constitution in 1839. Organizers expect as many as 100,000 people to attend this year’s celebration.
