TAHLEQUAH, OKLAHOMA - The Gathering Place has reopened at the Cherokee Heritage Center. The concession hut offers home-style cooking at an affordable price. Indian tacos, Cherokee nachos and frybread highlight the tasty menu as well as cheeseburgers, ham and cheese sandwiches and grilled chicken chef salads.

The Gathering Place will be open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. During the "Trail of Tears" drama, June 21 through August 31, food will be available until 5 p.m. and drinks until 6 p.m.

The Cherokee Heritage Center is home to the Tsa La Gi Amphitheater where the "Trail of Tears" drama is produced every summer. Named one of the Top 100 Events in North America by the American Bus Association, the "Trail of Tears" drama offers excellent entertainment value to both tour groups and individual travelers from around the world. ABA’s 2002 Top 100 Events Selection Committee chose the "Trail of Tears" drama from among hundreds of U.S. and Canadian events nominated by state and provincial tourism offices and visitors bureaus.

Before the drama, visitors can take advantage of the many cultural experiences offered at the Cherokee Heritage Center like the Ancient Village, Adam’s Corner Rural Village, the Trail of Tears Exhibit and the Museum and Museum Shop.
