TAHLEQUAH, OKLAHOMA - The Cherokee Heritage Center will be holding non-profit nights for its renowned "Trail of Tears" drama. The night will feature non-profit organizations sponsoring the event each Thursday from June 28 until Labor Day weekend. All summer, non-profit organizations will give out vouchers in the community. Vouchers will be handed in at the box office when tickets are purchased. Each visitor with a voucher will be given a coupon for a free popcorn. At the end of the season $1 will be awarded to each non-profit organization for every voucher redeemed. Plus, the non-profit organization with the most vouchers redeemed will win a free day’s use of the Cherokee Heritage Center’s facilities for a work picnic or fundraising event. The organizations are also encouraged to set up an information booth in the rain shelter of the Tsa La Gi Amphitheater during a performance to promote their organization.
Each year hundreds of visitors travel to the Cherokee Heritage Center to see the dramatic tale of the removal of the Cherokee people from their homelands. Sequoyah and animal characters guide the audience through this heroic Cherokee story with wit and compassion, making it a show for all ages.
