TAHLEQUAH, OKLAHOMA - Time is running out for visitors to see the highly acclaimed "Trail of Tears" drama. In order to thank the community for their support, the drama now offers numerous promotions make the experience more cost efficient for families.One such promotion is the Green Country promotion. Green Country offers its residents numerous attractions and entertainment. From the many lakes and rivers to festivals and shows there is something for everyone in Green Country. To celebrate this unique part of the state of Oklahoma, the Cherokee Heritage Center is offering Green Country residents an opportunity to experience history, culture and entertainment through the "Trail of Tears" drama at one-half the regular admission price. Residents should bring proof of residency.
Another promotion designed to lend support to the community is Non-profit Night. Every Thursday night, non-profit organizations are encouraged to set up informational displays in the Rain Shelter during the drama. In addition, these organizations are given coupons for free popcorn. These vouchers are to be given away in the community before the performance. For every coupon turned in, the non-profit organization will receive $1 from the Cherokee Heritage Center.
The latest promotion for the "Trail of Tears" drama is Cherokee Nation Employee Night. In appreciation for all of the hard work they do all Cherokee Nation employees and up to five family members will be admitted to the drama free of charge on August 16. Employees should bring their pay stub or insurance card.
The story of the round-up, confinement and removal of the Cherokee people is a story that has been passed down from generation to generation by cultures around the world. Through these recounts details have been lost and new ones added, but the strength and determination of the Cherokee people have remained constant. Nowhere is this dramatic piece of history told more entertainingly than through the "Trail of Tears" drama by playwright Joe Sears of "Greater Tuna" fame.
Visitors from around the world have come to see the "Trail of Tears" drama. Now the Cherokee Heritage Center has made it easier for local residents to come see the spectacle in their own backyard.
