Tahlequah, OK – The Cherokee Nation is sponsoring 10-week Cherokee language classes in various Cherokee communities that will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. every Monday night beginning March 3. The Tahlequah class will meet 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. every Tuesday night. These classes are for anyone interested in learning to read, write, and speak the Cherokee language. There is no fee to take the class, all books and materials are provided free of charge by the Cherokee Nation Cultural Resource Center.Classes will be held in Tahlequah at the Cherokee Nation Adult Education Center located at 124 E. Choctaw. In Porum at the Wheeler Heights Community Center. In Ramo at the home of Susan Galbreath located at 198 Ottawa St. In Oaks at the Oaks Senior Citizens Center located on Main St, and in Eucha at the Round Springs Baptist Church.
