ROLAND, OKLAHOMA - Every time the caller announces the numbers at the Cherokee Casino in Roland, Santa Claus gets a little help from bingo players with a heart. Every day through December 14, players at the Cherokee Casino in Roland are participating in a special bingo game benefiting the Cherokee Nation Angel Tree."Our employees have really been the driving force, wanting to give something back to the community", said David Stewart, President and CEO of Cherokee Nation Enterprises, which operates Cherokee Casino. "Our employees are adopting angels and our customers wanted to also. We figured out another way to help these kids: by having a game that directly benefits the Angel Tree."
The game is played during all bingo sessions at Cherokee Casino in Roland. Half the money from the game goes to the winner; the other half goes to the Angel Tree.
"People really enjoy it, knowing it’s for a good cause", Stewart said.
The Cherokee Nation Angel Tree provides gifts for more than 500 children who might otherwise have an empty stocking at Christmas. For more information on how you can help the angels on the Cherokee Nation Angel Tree, call 918-456-0671 (ext.2516).
