TAHLEQUAH, OK - The Cherokee Heritage Center will offer a college level class in Cherokee history this fall. This 10-week course, called the Cherokee Clemente course, will begin on Monday, September 9 and conclude on November 11. It will meet on Monday nights from 6 to 8 p.m. and will be offered for two hours of college credit in humanities through the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma."The course is a Cherokee centered educational opportunity where the Cherokee language, history and culture are all interwoven through the learning experience," said Marilyn Craig, marketing director for the Cherokee Heritage Center.
Class size is limited to twenty students and is currently full for this class. The Cherokee Heritage Center will also host another Cherokee Clemente class during the spring and summer semesters. Books and childcare are provided, as well as money to cover driving costs. Special consideration for admission is given to those who may not otherwise attend college.
