The public is invited to attend the open house and tour the new facility."This new facility gives us a good working environment that will allow for the growth of the program that is occurring and will hopefully continuer to occur," said Julie Erb, director of the Cancer Grants program.
The Cherokee Nation Cancer Grants program works on educating women about the importance of early detection of breast cancer, getting a mammogram beginning at age 40, and receiving regular screening mammograms each year. Informational fliers and pamphlets about breast cancer are displayed at the Cherokee Nation Tribal Complex and Cherokee and Creek Nation Clinics.
