TAHLEQUAH, OK - The Housing Authority of the Cherokee Nation Board Chairwoman Alyene Hogner recently swore in Wayne Dunham as a new commissioner.Dunham was appointed by Principal Chief Chad Smith and approved by the Tribal Council to serve a three-year term as a member of the HACN Board of Commissioners.
Dunham is currently the Mayor of the city of Jay. He has served as mayor for the past three years. Prior to serving as Mayor, Dunham served on the Jay City Council for eight years.
Mr. Dunham is a native of Jay, Oklahoma where he resides with his wife and enjoys fishing, gigging, and hunting. His past business experience includes 27 years in the poultry industry.
"It is an honor to serve on this board. It is a great deal what the Housing Authority is doing for the Cherokee people. I am proud to see that and proud to be a part of it", stated Wayne Dunham, HACN Commissioner.
The board of commissioners and Ron Qualls, executive director, welcomed Dunham.
The commissioners' meeting is open to the public and is scheduled every third Tuesday of each month at the HACN Administration Building conference room, located at 1500 Hensley Drive, Tahlequah. For more information about HACN, call 918-456-5482.
