TAHLEQUAH, OK - The Cherokee Nation has grants available to pay for education at technology centers and community colleges. The grant, which is called the Cherokee Nation Career and Technology Training Grant, is available to high school graduates."This grant targets middle income families", said Wauneta Sanders, manager of Cherokee Nation employee and training programs. "There are several grants still available, but the deadline for applications is July 1. I’d encourage anyone who might be interested to apply."
Applicants must be ineligible to receive Pell grants, a tribal member of the Cherokee Nation, live within the Cherokee Nation jurisdictional boundaries and plan to attend an Oklahoma Career and Technology Center or community college.
The Cherokee Nation will award the Career and Technology Training Grant to approximately forty students. The grant is worth $500 per semester, paid directly to the school, and is good for up to four semesters. Deadline to apply is July 1.
