TAHLEQUAH, OK - Representatives from the Navajo Nation in Albuquerque, New Mexico visited the Cherokee Nation's Head Start program to observe the Cherokee Nation's head start facilities and their practices.

Verna Thompson, early childhood director with the Cherokee Nation invited the Navajo Nation to visit the Cherokee Nation Head Start at a conference she attended with the Navajo representatives.

"Other tribes suggested that they come here to Tahlequah and visit", said Norma Harvey, public education coordinator with the Cherokee Nation Head Start. "I'm sure they learned a lot while they were here."

The Navajo Nation currently has a Head Start program, but they are looking to make revisions to it and were looking for tips on how the Cherokee Nation currently runs their Head Start program.
