TAHLEQUAH, OK - Linda Woodward, Director of the Cherokee Nation Department of Children, Youth and Family Services, has been invited to the White House to meet with President Bush and the First Lady to discuss adoption."I got a message on my voice mail inviting me to come to Washington and meet with the President about adoption", Woodward said. "I thought it was a joke, but it turned out to be a genuine request."
Woodward will be meeting with the President and First Lady for an hour-and-a half on Tuesday, July 23. "I'm not sure what all they want to talk about, but I’m excited that they're interested in learning about adoption issues in Indian County."
Cherokee Nation's adoption and foster care programs serve as models throughout Indian Country.
"We're always finding new ways to build and strengthen our Indian families", Woodward said. "I'm excited about this opportunity to share with the President and the First Lady."
