TAHELQUAH, OK - American Woodmark Corporation, a leading supplier of kitchen cabinetry to the new construction and remodeling industry, will officially announce the construction of a new 300,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Tahlequah, Oklahoma and break ground on Wednesday, January 9 in Tahlequah. The $20 million facility will employ between 400 and 500 workers when fully operational. The new assembly plant is expected to begin shipping cabinetry to customers in the South Central United States region by August 2002.

The public is invited to attend the events on January 9, which includes the announcement at Indian Capital Technology Center at 1:30 p.m., groundbreaking ceremonies at the Tahlequah Industrial Park at 2:15 and a reception at the Cherokee Nation’s Community Meeting room behind the Restaurant of the Cherokees at 3:00 p.m.

U.S. Congressman Brad Carson, Speaker of the Oklahoma House of Representatives Larry Adair, State Senator Herb Rozell and several other state, tribal and local officials will also be on hand during the day's events, as well as the many partners who worked together to bring American Woodmark to Tahlequah.

Carson, Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation Chad Smith, Tahlequah Mayor Jerry Cook and American Woodmark executives will speak at the formal announcement.

American Woodmark will have a full kitchen on display at the reception to display their cabinets. The kitchen will be auctioned to the highest bidder with proceeds going to the Tahlequah chapter of Habitat for Humanity.
