TAHLEQUAH, OK - The Cherokee Nation will host an informational meeting for Cherokee farmers and ranchers in the Tahlequah area on Thursday, February 28, at 3:00 p.m. in the Cherokee Nation Community Room.This informational meeting will cover topics such as agricultural loans, pesticide application, and specific types of cattle that are good for grazing on smaller acreages. Representatives from the Natural Resource Conservation Service, Farm Service Agency, OSU Extension Service, Intertribal Agriculture Council, and The Oklahoma Landowners and Tenants Associations will give presentations and be on hand to answer any questions. An informational meeting of this type will be held in each of the fourteen counties of the Cherokee Nation jurisdictional area over the next year.
All Cherokee tribal members who are involved in the farming and ranching business are invited to attend. Dinner will be served free of charge to meeting participants at 6:00 courtesy of Charlie’s Chicken. The Cherokee Nation Community Room is located in the same building as the Restaurant of the Cherokees on Highway 62 just south of Tahlequah, adjacent to the Cherokee Nation Tribal Complex.
