TAHLEQUAH, OK - The Cherokee Nation will host potluck dinners and recipe parties at the Jay Food Center on February 12, 2002 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m and at the Salina Food Center on February 19, 2002 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The public is invited to bring their favorite dish and commodity recipe. The Cherokee Nation Food Distribution program will provide the drinks."This is an opportunity for Cherokee Nation employees, community members and our clients to get to know each other in a relaxed atmosphere", said Principal Chief Chad Smith. “I’m glad that our Food Distribution program is taking time to showcase some of the healthy meals that can be made from the products they provide. Cherokee Nation Food Distribution programs utilize nutrition experts to help provide the freshest fruits and vegetables, canned goods and other items to our clients. Good nutrition is one way to ensure a healthy lifestyle and reduce illness."
The Jay Food Center is located in the tan building across from the Dollar Store in the Industrial Park. The Salina Food Center is located in the tan and blue building behind the Salina Clinic. Anyone who cooks or eats is welcome to attend. Information about program participation will also be provided.
