TAHLEQUAH, OK - The Housing Authority of the Cherokee Nation (HACN) held its monthly Board of Commissioner’s meeting Tuesday, February 19, 2002.Resolutions passed at the HACN Board Meeting include:
- Authorizing a revision of the Rehabilitation Program’s Policy to comply with NAHASDA, to reduce the 10-year limitation for the sale of the home to 7 years, and providing for background checks within the past five years at the time of application.
- Authorizing a revision of the HACN Emergency Rehabilitation Policy regarding situations that threaten the life, health and safety of the family. Also the Weatherization program is exempt from any and all income requirements.
- Authorizing the resolution allowing uncollectible debts in the Homeownership and low Rent Programs be written off as uncollectible expenses, for now but in the future put the money in the housing plan for expense.
- Authorizing a resolution giving preference to the elderly, or handicapped, or disabled tribal members (head of household or spouse only) in all HACN programs.
- Discussing conversion from Income Based Homeownership payments of Mortgage Based Payments.
- Tabling a resolution appropriating $15,000, Proceeds of Sale Funds to be used for consulting services for the Title VI Program.

Commissioner Wayne Dunham was sworn in by BOC chairman Alyene Hogner.
The Housing Authority of the Cherokee Nation Board of Commissioners Meeting is open to the public. The next meeting will be at 5:30 p.m., on Tuesday, March 19, at the HACN Administration Conference Room, located at 1500 Hensley Drive in Tahlequah.
