Tahlequah, OK - The Cherokee Heritage Center will offer a series of lectures this spring with distinctly local flavor entitled "Tahlequah Remembered." Several local and area residents will share their memories and knowledge of Tahlequah.
The series begins February 10 with Vicki Scheffler, Northeastern State University archivist, discussing "NSU and the Seminaries." Through her position in the NSU archives, Scheffler has access to a wealth of information about these historic institutions and their evolution into NSU.
March 3's lecture is "Tahlequah Memories." Long-time Tahlequah resident Beth Herrington, a retired music teacher, will discuss the "Historic Homes of Tahlequah" March 24. She once authored a booklet by the same name.
Closing the series on April 14 will be Todd Mutzig, a local businessman who will discuss "Tahlequah's Main Street." Mutzig has been active in the campaign to revitalize downtown Tahlequah and restore many of the original storefronts.
The lectures begin at 2:00 p.m. and are free to the public. For more information call, 918-456-6007.
