TAHLEQUAH, OKLAHOMA - The Cherokee Heritage Center will host a casting call for two major motion pictures on January 11.

The first of these movies is "The Alamo," which will be shot on location in Texas beginning January 29th. The second movie entitled "Last Ride," is being directed by Ron Howard and shot on location in New Mexico. Start date for "Last Ride" will be in March of 2003.

The casting call will be orchestrated by Texas casting director Jo Edna Boldin. Bolin will hold auditions for a wide variety of Native American roles of all ages.

There are three specific roles in "The Alamo" that she will be looking to cast on the 11th. One is a role for boy, 6-7years-old, who can be coached to speak a few lines of the Cherokee language. She will also be looking for a woman of approximately 30 years of age to play "Talahina," the wife of Sam Houston. They will also be casting the role of Chief Bowles, a 40-50 year old male. Bolin will also be looking for all types of Native Americans for roles in "Last Ride." There are numerous roles for males that can ride horseback, as well as roles for good and bad guys, and a Native American family.

They will also be creating files of Native American actors that could be used for future casting. Open auditions will take place from noon to 6pm at the Cherokee Heritage Center, and sides for the scripts will be provided prior to the auditions.
