Cherokee Girl Dear Friend:

The Cherokee Nation Education Corporation (CNEC) very much appreciates the generosity of its contributors.

They have enriched the lives of 10 students who received Upton Memorial or Omo scholarships. These young people would not be engaged in pursuit of their higher education goals without a scholarship from CNEC.

In May, the Cherokee National Children's Choir traveled to New York City to perform songs of comfort at "ground zero" and to other historic sites in Washington, DC. In October, the Choir performed in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where they received a Native American Music Award for their CD titled "Voices of the Creator's Children". In December they performed at the Dollywood theme park in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. The Children's Choir touched many lives because of contributions made to CNEC.

The Cherokee Warriors Memorial was a dream of veterans for many years. In November it was officially dedicated and construction will begin soon. CNEC is helping raise money to complete the memorial so our children and grandchildren can be reminded of the many freedoms that Cherokee service men and women safeguard for us all.

I ask that you please consider making a contribution to CNEC. Your contribution can be designated specifically to any of the above causes, or to promote the education, language, culture and history of Cherokee people. For a tax deduction contribution in 2002, please mail your check to Cherokee Nation Education Corporation, PO Box 948, Tahlequah, OK 74465 before January 1st, 2003. Please call 918-456-0671 (ext.2420) if you have questions.

Thank you for helping make a better life for Cherokee people. May you and your loved ones have a joyful and peaceful holiday season.

Wado,

Chad "Corntassle" Smith,
Principal Chief, Cherokee Nation
President, Cherokee Nation Education Corporation
