The Bartlesville Health Clinic is a branch of the Cherokee Nation Nowata Primary Clinic. It will house a nurse practitioner and a behavioral health therapist, as well as a limited lab. Patients will also be able to receive some of their prescriptions from this location. Patients need to make appointments to be seen, but appointments can be scheduled for the same day.
"Indian health care in Oklahoma remains underfunded, but the Cherokee Nation saw a need here in Bartlesville and we worked together to address it and serve the Native Americans in this area", said Chad Smith, Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation.
"I'd like to thank the Chief, as well as the Council for their hard work in getting this done", said Buel Anglen, a Tribal Council member from District Eight, which includes Washington County.
"Eight years ago we had the idea for this clinic, but the funding wasn't there", said Nick Lay, a Cherokee Nation Tribal Council from District Eight. "I want to thank the whole Tribal Council for working to set the money aside to make this happen."
The Cherokee Nation Bartlesville Clinic not only makes health care services available to Native Americans in Washington County, it also reduce the workload at the Cherokee Nation Nowata Clinic.
The clinic is located at 501 East 5th, Suite B in Bartlesville. Hours of operation will be Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Appointments can be made by calling (918) 336-0823. Behavioral Health appointments will still need to be scheduled through the Nowata Clinic by calling 918-273-0192.
