TAHLEQUAH, OK - The 50th Cherokee National Holiday Golf Tournament will be held Saturday, August 31 and Sunday, September 1 at the Cherokee Trails Golf Course on the Sequoyah High School campus, located 3 1/2 miles south of Tahlequah on Hwy. 62
Tournament qualifying rounds will be from 8 a.m. to sundown, Saturday, August 31, and the final rounds will be Sunday with shotgun starts at 7:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Since a large turnout is expected, local golfers may make arrangements at the clubhouse to qualify during the week.
Men's flights include Championship, B, C, and D. There may be multiple flights in the Seniors’ (55 and older) and Women’s groups, depending on number of participants. Flights will be determined at end of competition. Tournament entry fee is $55 for non-members and $40 for Cherokee Trails members. Fee includes entry fee, two green fees, and a luncheon on Saturday.
There will also be a golf scramble on Friday, August 30 at Cobblestone Creek Golf Course, in Muskogee. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. and closes at 8:45 a.m., with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. The scramble entry fee is $45.00.
The Cherokee Nation celebrates the Cherokee National Holiday every year over Labor Day weekend. The theme of this year’s celebration is 'Building One Fire'. The annual Holiday commemorates the signing of the Cherokee Nation Constitution of September 6, 1839.
