STILWELL, OK - Children in Adair County can ride a little safer this fall. A car seat check and giveaway and safety fair will be held at the Stilwell State Park on Friday, August 16, from 9:00 until 12:00, with the car seat giveaway lasting until 11:00.

There will also be demonstrations available with the "Beat The Heat" simulator, Rollover simulator, and a safety driving range demonstration and a demonstration by the Mothers Against Drunk Driving (M.A.D.D.). Finger printing of small children will also be available all free of charge.

"Because of the fact that the Safe Kids Coalitions are in effect, we hope to assist as much as possible in ensuring that every child who needs a car seat or booster seat has one, as well as ensure that parents of these children know how to properly install and use them," said Toney McGee, Cherokee Nation public health education specialist with the Wilma P. Mankiller Clinic and Adair County Safe Kids Coordinator. "We hope to have a great turnout!"

Adair County Safe Kids Chapter, Wilma P. Mankiller Health Center, and Superior Chevrolet sponsor this event. To qualify for a free booster seat or car seat, the child must be present with the adult and have verification of receiving WIC, SoonerCare, Food Stamps, or donated foods
