TAHLEQUAH, OK - The Cherokee Nation Marshal Service arrested Michael Shane Lowrey, an employee of the Cherokee Nation, for preventing officers from performing their duty and threatening violence against the officers."The marshals were attempting to interview Lowrey during an investigation of internal theft and potential misconduct when he made threats against the marshals", said David Roberts, director of the Marshal Service. The Cherokee Nation District Court then issued a warrant for his arrest. At the time of his arrest, marshals also found a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia in his possession.
Lowrey was booked into Muskogee County Jail and appeared before the Cherokee Nation District court on August 8, where he was assigned a Cherokee Nation public defender. Lowery will appear in court again next month where he will face charges of threatening a Cherokee Nation Marshal and possession of drug paraphernalia.
