The Cherokee Nation will be announcing details of a new $50 million housing program at a news conference, groundbreaking and luncheon in Jay, Oklahoma at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 5. This will be the largest program of its kind in the United States and will provide homes for approximately 600 families in communities of the Cherokee Nation.The homes will be in communities all over northeastern Oklahoma, including Tulsa, Washington, Rogers, Wagoner, Mayes, Muskogee, Delaware, Nowata, Craig, Ottawa, Cherokee, Adair, Sequoyah and McIntosh counties.
Who: Cherokee Nation, Housing Authority of the Cherokee Nation, HUD, Bank One, Fannie Mae, U.S. Congressman Brad Carson, area mayors within the Cherokee Nation boundaries.
What: News conference, ground breaking and luncheon.
When: 11 a.m. on August 5, for news conference and groundbreaking. Luncheon to follow.
Where: Starr Housing Addition, Jay, Oklahoma located one mile North of Jay on HWY 59
