Tahlequah, OK - The fourth session of the Cherokee Clemente Course hosted by the Cherokee Heritage Center will begin Monday, September 9. This 10-week class is a college level humanities course, with two hours of college credit being offered through the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma. This project is made possible in part by a grant from the Oklahoma Humanities Council and the National Endowment for the Humanities.
The course is a Cherokee-centered educational opportunity where the Cherokee language, history, and culture are all interwoven through the learning experience. The fall course will continue to explore history and culture from a Cherokee perspective.
Due to the tremendous interest in the class, the fall class is closed with the maximum of 20 students enrolled. The course will be taught on Monday nights from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. beginning on September 9 and running through November 11. Classes are also scheduled for the spring and summer of 2003. For more information, contact the Clemente course coordinator, phone: 918-456-6007.
