Tahlequah, OK - Sitting through a two hour, outdoor drama in August may not sound very appealing to many theater goers. But, for those theater enthusiasts who visit the Tsa La Gi Amphitheater to see the 'Trail of Tears Drama', the heat is not such a big problem thanks to the cool mist system that has recently been installed.

This Cloud Burst system features five 36 inch, high pressure, oscillating fans, that spray a gentle mist over the theater.

"These fans spray a very fine mist that dissipates before it hits the ground", said Patrick Whelan, producer of the drama. “Depending on the humidity, it can drop the temperature anywhere from eight to ten degrees."

In addition to the five fans, which are mounted on the roof of the theater, four, 24 inch, portable fans have been brought in to further cool guests. "Two of the portable fans have been placed in the rain shelter and two of them are near the stage area to cool the audience sitting in the front and the actors", said Whelan.

A cooler theater is only part of what attracts audiences to this 1,800 seat amphitheater that comes to life with theater and dance as this incredible drama unfolds. The Tsa La Gi Amphitheater is recognized as one of America’s most beautiful outdoor theater venues. Each seat provides an excellent view of the stage area, and the theater’s unique design lends itself to natural acoustics.

Named one of the Top 100 Events in North America by the American Bus Association, the 'Trail of Tears Drama' is a touching story filled with pageantry, wit, music and folklore.

Audience members will be moved while they relax under the night sky and enjoy the cool mist system as they become a part of Cherokee history. "People, on a very hot night, can now experience relief if not refreshment", said Whelan.

The 'Trail of Tears Drama' will run through Labor Day weekend every Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. Ticket prices are $15 for adults, $7.50 for children and students, and $13.50 for seniors.
