Tahlequah, OK - The next Cherokee Heritage Center volunteer meeting will be August 20 at 10:30 a.m. in the atrium of the museum. The meeting will be a great opportunity to discuss the Cherokee National Holiday. The Heritage Center staff is currently working on an assignment sheet for the Cherokee Holiday and volunteers are greatly needed to help fill in the gaps on this busy weekend.
The 50th annual Cherokee National Holiday is expected to bring more than 80,000 visitors and Cherokees to Tahlequah, Oklahoma - August 30 through September 1, 2002 (Labor Day weekend). ![]()
Opportunities include museum and museum shop monitors. Staff and volunteers want to be sure that the hard work invested in the museum exhibits as well as the important story the exhibits tell remains secure and unharmed despite the thousands of people expected during holiday weekend.
Volunteers may also be needed to help answer phones in the main office. For those shy of the summer heat, our volunteer needs are primarily indoors in our well air-conditioned museum.
If you would like to volunteer at the Cherokee Heritage Center during the 50th Cherokee National Holiday, call Anne Woodward, phone: 918-456-6007 or send an email to: info@CherokeeHeritage.org.
