Porum, OK - The public is invited to the Grand Opening of the Cherokee Heritage Pottery plant in Porum, on Saturday, April 20 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The events of the day include a ribbon cutting ceremony, signing of the clay tile guest book, and tours of the pottery plant. A free lunch will be provided and there will be drawings for door prizes.
The Cherokee Heritage Pottery plant was recently purchased from Howard Plunkett, who had operated the plant as Cherokee Pottery for the last 25 years. Pat Stewart, director of Cherokee Heritage Pottery is very excited to be at the Porum location, which has a retail shop and a vast working space for creating and making pottery pieces.
The mission of Cherokee Heritage Pottery is to document, teach, preserve and produce pottery made by the Cherokee People. Purchase of this art benefits the Cherokee Heritage Center, a museum dedicated to the preservation of Cherokee history and culture.
