Tahlequah, OK - On Thursday April 18 world-renowned Native American writer, poet and storyteller Simon Ortiz will read from his works at 3 pm at the Iguana Café at 500 N Muskogee Avenue in downtown Tahlequah. Several of his works will be available for purchase and the author's autograph including his newest publication Out There Somewhere.
Simon Ortiz is from the Acoma Pueblo of New Mexico. He writes of his people, the land, native identity and the ongoing economic, cultural and political struggles. Despite the conflict between Native and Western worlds, his stories and poems also creatively relate the ongoing hope for understanding and efforts against oppression.
The cultural and literary event is free of charge and open to the public.
