Ummerteskee and Sharp were the first employees to complete all class modules in the internal Foundations in Supervision/Management program for Cherokee Nation supervisors. They successfully completed eight days of training on Cherokee Nation policy, procedure and management practices. The classes are part of the new Cherokee Nation Passport Program from Organizational/Employee Development and Communications. The classes are designed to build internal capacity within Cherokee Nation’s workforce. Building internal capacity is one of the strategic initiatives outlined in the Cherokee Nation Declaration of Designed Purpose.
"It is important that we develop our leadership from within the Cherokee Nation", Smith said. "I applaud Lela and Stephanie for their willingness to learn and grow as Cherokee Nation leaders."
