TAHLEQUAH, OK - Sequoyah High School students will be participating in a national survey on drug and alcohol use in early December.Sequoyah students will take the American Drug and Alcohol Survey (ADAS) after December 3. The funding for the administration of the survey comes from a federal grant awarded to the Tri-Ethnic Center of Colorado State University. That funding allows the survey to be conducted at no cost to the school.
Participation in the ADAS is voluntary. Parents that wish to withdraw their child from participation may do so by contacting Sherman Nofire, phone: 918-456-0631. Parents may also review a copy of the survey prior to its administration.
The survey will assist Sequoyah High School in planning, funding and evaluating drug and alcohol prevention programs.

![]() Sequoyah High School, an Indian boarding school, originated in 1871, when the Cherokee National Council passed an act setting up an orphan asylum to take care of many orphans that came out of the Civil War. Sequoyah High School's approximate 300 enrollment represents 42 tribes and 14 different states. Students are eligible to attend if they are members of federally recognized Indian tribes or one-fourth blood descendants of such members. |
