TAHLEQUAH, OK - An audience of millions will watch the Grand View Elementary School Choir perform in the annual PBS special program "The World's Largest Concert 2001." The annual national sing-along concert, will be broadcast March 8, 2001, at 12:00 p.m. on Channel 11 (PBS), the Armed Forces Radio and Television Network overseas.

A local waterfall served as the background while thirty-four choir members dressed in traditional Cherokee attire sang during a taping earlier this year. The girls wore traditional Cherokee Tear dresses and the boys wore Cherokee Ribbon Shirts. The fifth through eighth grade children sang "One Song, Many Voices" for the concert.

"The song talks of how each culture is important to the whole of humanity," said Judy Myers, choir director.

"We are extremely proud of our students, because only two schools in the State of Oklahoma were selected to be a part of this video," said Glenda Sellers, second grade teacher. "One is Grand View Elementary School, located in Cherokee County and the other school is in Oklahoma City."

At 2:00 p.m. on March 8, the entire school will assemble in the cafeteria to watch a video of the program. The public is invited to attend. Millions of school children, teachers and citizens from around the world will participate simultaneously in the concert.

The World's Largest Concert 2001 will re-air on Thursday, March 15, 2001 at 12:00 p.m. on OETA, Oklahoma's Statewide Public Television Network. This special program runs for 30 minutes. The annual national sing-along celebrates music in schools. For those not in Oklahoma, contact your local PBS stations for air times.
