TULSA, OK - Cherokee Nation councilwoman Dorothy Jean McIntosh hosted the District 8 monthly community meeting that was held at the Tulsa Indian United Methodist Church earlier this month.

Councilwoman McIntosh opened the meeting with brief introductions of guests. Representatives from the Cherokee Nation were on hand to give updates on the status of the Cherokee Nation. Principal Chief Chad Smith spoke about the strength of partnerships that benefit tribal members, mentioning a cooperative agreement between the Cherokee Nation and the Internal Revenue Service that would ensure all low-income and moderate level income Cherokee families are utilizing the Earned Income Tax Credit.
Debra Bailey, area director of the Housing Authority of the Cherokee Nation gave an update on the Housing Authority and it’s services. Diane Kelley, Executive Director of Community Services for the Cherokee Nation spoke to the crows about several aspects within her program, including the Indian Community Development Block Grant.
The next monthly meeting for the District 8 community will be July 21st at 10:00 a.m. in Bartlesville at the W.W. Keeler apartment complex. For further meeting notice information call, 918-535-2288.
