TAHLEQUAH, OK - Members of a local band won’t forget a recent trip to the Cherokee Heritage Center. The Pumpkin Hollow Band, a local quartet that plays blues and rock cover songs, had a chance to meet with two-time Grammy Award winning singer Rita Coolidge.

Coolidge, a Cherokee, signed autographs and talked with the community members as well as the band. The Pumpkin Hollow Band is made up of four youngsters, Rodney Buckhorn, Nick McClure, Doo Reese and Kirk Reese, between the ages of 13 and 17. Three of the four musicians are Cherokee.
"We really enjoyed the opportunity to meet Rita", Buckhorn said. "It was cool to talk to a famous musician."
Later in the week, the Pumpkin Hollow Band played at a Cherokee Nation employee luncheon hosted by the Cherokee Nation’s Health Services group.
