TAHLEQUAH, OK - Two hundred youngsters participated in the Housing Authority of the Cherokee Nation's 7th Annual Youth Challenge at Sequoyah High School.Resident organizations competed against each other in events like the softball throw, football throw, three-legged race, basketball shoot-out, and a tug-a-war. Every child that participated received a ribbon. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place ribbons were awarded to the winners. Those attending were treated to a pot-luck luncheon and hog-fry.
"It's nice to see the adults support the youth, not just staff, but a variety of people from the Cherokee Nation, Housing Authority, Tribal Council, and of course the parents", said Karen Ryder, Resident Organization Coordinator with the Housing Authority.
