TAHLEQUAH, OK - Perry Blankenship, the owner of 'One Feather Books', is a citizen of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, who moved to Tahlequah, Oklahoma from North Carolina. Blankenship has been selling books, music, baskets, art work, and other Native American crafts for about 13 years.

Blankenship has also started doing shows, only a short time ago. "My brother had been doing shows for some time," Blankenship said. "He sent me a couple of plastic bags of T-shirts. I took them to a show and set them up in a picnic table, he said adding, "I did real well and I was hooked,"

'One Feather Books' is located across from the Cherokee Nation, Oklahoma tribal headquarters and will celebrate its fifth anniversary in October. Perry Blankenship said that he opened the store to promote all aspects of Native American Indian culture. Blankenship hopes increased tourism, from people viewing American Indian sites and learning about Native American Indian culture, will help businesses such as his prosper.
