TAHLEQUAH, OK - Junior Miss Cherokee Pageant Scheduled The Cherokee Nation will hold the annual Junior Miss Cherokee Pageant Saturday, August 18 at the Talking Leaves Job Corps Center.

Contestants must be at least 13 years old but not more than 17 years old on or before August 18 to be eligible to enter. Contestants will be judged on Cherokee history, traditional dress, personality and poise, talent, scholastic achievement and a written essay. Contestants will be given three essay topics to choose from on the day of the pageant.

Each participant must have a Certificate Degree of Indian Blood (CDIB) card accompanying the registration form; a parent’s CDIB card will not be accepted. Registration forms are available at the W.W. Keeler Tribal Complex.

Registration fee for the pageant is $5 and personal checks will not be accepted. Entry forms must be completed and postmarked or hand-delivered no later than August 15, 2001 by 5:00 p.m. Send to: Reba Bruner, c/o Pageant Coordinator, P.O. Box, Tahlequah, Oklahoma 74465.
