TAHLEQUAH, OK - The Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma's (CNO), Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program has received $215,000 in supplemental funding, from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The funds will help an estimated 1,000 households with heating expenses.A spokesperson for the tribe said that priority will go to the elderly and disabled and to those households with young children.
The HHS/CNO's program helps low income households pay gas and electric bills, as well as other types of fuel, such as wood or propane used for heating.
