TAHLEQUAH, OK - The Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma's (CNO), Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program has received $215,000 in supplemental funding, from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The funds will help an estimated 1,000 households with heating expenses.

A spokesperson for the tribe said that priority will go to the elderly and disabled and to those households with young children.

The HHS/CNO's program helps low income households pay gas and electric bills, as well as other types of fuel, such as wood or propane used for heating.
