The wiring that connects the offices in the motel to Cherokee Nation's high speed internet service.

TAHLEQUAH, OK - Cherokee Nation Information Systems Group is nearing completion of the computer/data-networking project at the old Tsa La Gi Motel building. Cherokee Nation employees that have an office in the building will soon be connected via fiber optic to the main Cherokee Nation network. Most users are already connected and no longer have to dial up to get their e-mail, run fundware or surf the Internet.

Information Systems installed over 2.5 miles of network wiring and after all of the rooms are ready they will have installed over 3 miles of network wiring. All 104 rooms of the building will be networked, including the conference rooms.

Cherokee Nation Facilities assisted with the installation by boring holes and inserting PVC sleeves for the wiring to be pulled through. Every room in the building had to be drilled to pull the cable through. "This type of installation is something we aren’t used to, the walls are solid concrete and were very difficult for our facilities personnel to drill through," said Todd Enlow, Director of Information Systems.

The Information Systems Hardware Technicians worked many hours after 5:00 p.m. and late into the night to install all of this wiring. "I am very proud of my guys, they put in long hours to make this happen," said Enlow.
