TAHLEQUAH,OK - Sequoyah High School’s H.O.P.E (Honoring Our People’s Existence) Club hosted a benefit pow-wow earlier this month. Jake Chanate was the MC, Stella Walema was the Head Lady and Joseph Byrd was the Head Man."We want to thank the teachers and staff that donated money and food," said Gloria Matthews, one of the H.O.P.E.’s sponsors. "One Feather Books donated a cedar box for a raffle, and Wal-Mart and Food 4 Less each gave monetary donations. We thank them all."
Several Sequoyah staff members attended, including Louie Jackson, Joe Morris, Teresa Roberts, Donetta Henson, Louise Carr, Christine Robbins and Frances Washee. Also attending were Jennifer Tsosie, Cherokee Gourd Society Princess and Twyla CrowGhost, H.O.P.E. Princess.
