Cobb, who lives in Bartlesville, said that his Cherokee heritage was a major factor in his recovery from a 1997 car accident that claimed his left leg and nearly took his life.
"From the stories I've heard from my grandmother, I've known since I was young that I come from a people where you just keep going, you never quit", Cobb said.
As a way of showing his appreciation to the Cherokee Nation, Cobb presented culturally significant aboriginal items to members of the tribal council and Principal Chief Chad Smith. Council member Dorothy Jean McIntosh presented Cobb with a Cherokee flag.
In other council news, the council passed resolutions that allow the Community Services Group to accept more grant money. The council also passed an act that would allow any branch of the Cherokee Nation government access to the list of registered Cherokee voters, which previously were only available to candidates for Cherokee Nation office. In a unanimous vote, the council approved a resolution that reaffirmed its support for continued litigation against the Delawares.
