TAHLEQUAH, OK - Sequoyah High School recently formed a Community Relations Board to make decisions about conveying a positive image to the community.

The board met for the first time on Thursday, December 6, 2001. Board members are Jerry Cook, Tahlequah Mayor, Jim Wilson, State Representative, Gina Olaya, Director of Tahlequah Boys and Girls Club, Dr. James King, NSU Professor of Education, Denise Carter, Talking Leaves Job Corps, Gina Stanley, Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Counseling for SHS, Gloria Matthews, Grant Writer and Instructor for SHS, and Gerald Livingston, Social Studies Instructor for SHS.

"We want to make the general public aware of the exceptional things taking place at Sequoyah," said Tony Pivec, Sequoyah Superintendent. "When people think of Sequoyah High School, we want their first thought to be that it is a great place for area students to get an education."

The Community Relations Board will also discuss community involvement, access to community resources, and creating cooperative partnerships with other Tahlequah organizations.
